Responsibilities

Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) development, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems
Support troubleshooting and debugging of control system hardware and software issues under the guidance of senior engineers
Participate in drafting and reviewing technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
Help with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems on-site as required
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure project success
Conduct research on new technologies, components, and industry best practices relevant to control systems
Maintain accurate records of work and assist in preparing project reports and presentations

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field
Basic understanding of control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation concepts
Familiarity with programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block Diagram is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CAD software is beneficial
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27-July 31, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
Be willing to work in Canton, NY
