Senior Systems Engineer - Windows/VMWare/SAN

Broward County Clerk of Circuit and County Courts is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with advanced technical expertise. This role involves managing server infrastructure, troubleshooting, and providing technical support for critical systems, while also overseeing projects and junior staff.

Responsibilities

Assesses and maintains server infrastructure reliability and implementation
Manages projects and support activities for server maintenance
Coordinates, plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of junior staff
Recommends approval for hiring and staff evaluations
Maintains user accounts for a variety of platforms used throughout the organization
Performs regular auditing and reporting activities of server maintenance
Participates in vendor acquisition and manages products and relationships
Identify, design, and implement network technologies and methodologies to meet the future needs of the enterprise, including core, distribution, and access layers
Respond to security events both independently and as part of an Incident Management Team
Perform advanced troubleshooting
Participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases
Analyze and make recommendations for hardware and software standardization
Provides complex technical support during critical and non-critical business hours on server hardware, operating systems, and software. Is proactive and reactive for problem alerting, analysis, resolution, and follow up to ensure platform stability
Deploys and configuring complex server operating systems and applications in physical, virtual, and containerized compute environments to corporate and vendor standards
Performs complex application and storage system upgrades (hardware/software) as well as scheduled health checks in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining storage, replication and backups for all systems and ensuring data integrity
Responsible for all technical reference documentation to be used in support and training of Information Technology (IT) personnel
Defines, assigns, and supervises work in development of new or revised server deployments and projects, and supervises as required to achieve desired results within established time frames
Coordinates all work efforts, testing, problem resolution and application activities of assigned area of responsibility with project staff and other CTD groups on a daily basis as necessary
Provides status reports of current and planned work efforts as required
Actively participates in design, planning, and development of the installation and relocation of server-related hardware and software
Contributes in the strategic planning to help automate activities of the organization
Performs systems analysis and design of complex computer networks in order to implement server hardware and software, as well as peripheral devices
Compiles, reviews, and maintains documentation of equipment inventory and licensing
Provides comparative costs for hardware and software of assigned projects
Participates in the preparation and submission of yearly budgets
Maintains diagrams of data centers and all hardware housed within them
Complete/participate in completion of annual performance evaluations of assigned staff
Interfaces with other Project Leaders as necessary on all server-related tasks
Helps develop security measures for operating system and hardware equipment
Other duties as assigned

Required

Associate's degree in information technology, or an equivalent combination of education, preferred certifications, training, and/or experience
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure/Systems administration in the field of server technologies which include:
Strong technical background and experience in structured analysis, Microsoft technologies, and Enterprise server-based environments mandatory
Design and support of systems within an enterprise environment
Advanced administration of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
Advanced administration of Active Directory
Advanced experience with NetApp SANs or similar enterprise storage technologies
Advanced administration of VMWare infrastructure
Advanced experience with Microsoft Exchange Servers
Advanced experience with Veeam or similar enterprise backup and replication technologies
Advanced experience with Microsoft Systems Center Suite

Preferred

Master's degree in information science and at least two (2) years of working as a lead role in a server technologies group
PMP, Microsoft Certified: MCSE: Core Infrastructure, VMware Certified: VCP/VCAP
Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, or equivalent combination of certifications
Advanced administration of Microsoft System Center (SCOM, SCCM)
Advanced administration of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway
Advanced administration of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator
Advanced administration of VMware Carbon Black Solutions
Advanced administration of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, including cloud migration and disaster recovery
Experience with administering Microsoft SQL Server
Advanced PowerShell scripting
