Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Photovoltaic Projects.
Wurzel-Coach is seeking a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead and validate the commissioning activities of electrical systems within a photovoltaic project. This role involves ensuring installations operate safely and efficiently while coordinating with various teams for a smooth transition to operational readiness.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute commissioning activities for low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems. Perform functional, operational, and performance tests on electrical equipment, PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
Coordinate and supervise energization procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and lockout/tagout requirements
Troubleshoot electrical issues during commissioning and propose corrective actions to ensure system reliability and performance
Review and validate commissioning procedures, test scripts, and technical documentation
Verify system readiness by coordinating with construction, QA/QC, and engineering teams. Prepare commissioning reports, punch lists, and final acceptance documentation
Interface directly with contractors, subcontractors, and the client to ensure alignment on commissioning progress and technical requirements
Support the handover process by ensuring all commissioning records and documentation are complete and compliant
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical commissioning for photovoltaic, renewable energy, or industrial power projects
Proven experience in testing, energization, and start-up of LV, MV, and HV electrical systems
Strong understanding of electrical systems, including protection schemes, grounding, power distribution, and control systems
Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and other relevant standards
Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics, and commissioning procedures
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving commissioning-related issues
Ability to lead commissioning teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary groups
High attention to safety, operational risk management, and compliance
Effective communication and coordination skills for interaction with clients, contractors, and project management teams
Ability to work on site in demanding project environments and meet commissioning deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Preferred
Experience working in EPC, multinational, or large-scale infrastructure project environments is highly desirable
Knowledge of SCADA systems, communication protocols, and system integration is an advantage
