National Application Engineer

Eaton’s Bussmann Division is seeking a National Application Engineer to drive industry demand and proper application of overcurrent protection solutions. The role involves serving as a technical leader, influencing industry standards, and collaborating with internal and external partners to advance safe electrical system design.

Responsibilities

Act as a subject‑matter expert in overcurrent protection, power distribution systems, NEC requirements, and product standards
Represent Eaton with key industry organizations such as IAEI, IEEE, NECA, NEMA, electrical training ALLIANCE, IEC, and others
Support NEC and UL standards adoption and enforcement among end users, OEMs, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners including IAEI, IBEW, IEC, NFPA, ICC, and similar organizations
Collaborate with internal Eaton stakeholders—product line teams, field sales, and plant personnel—to align messaging and drive market influence
Lead and direct global technical support engineering teams in India/Mexico and manage contract resources supporting technical writing and standards work
Develop and update technical marketing collateral and guide creation of educational content for sales engineers and application engineers
Provide industry insights that shape Eaton Bussmann and broader Eaton product strategies
Work directly with customers and partners to solve problems, understand market needs, and shape industry direction
Influence consultant specifications, industry partner documents, and NFPA‑related content to align with Eaton’s strategic initiatives
Lead national training seminars for distributors, end users, consultants, inspectors, and internal sales teams at the Bussmann Experience Center in St. Louis, MO
Serve as an internal technical expert supporting FAE teams, including guidance on SCCR calculations using UL508A and OSCAR 3.0

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales or engineering in the electrical industry

Preferred
