Payroll & HR Assistant
Dickerson Companies is a fast-paced, privately-owned company operating in Mississippi, committed to serving their customers and communities. The Payroll & HR Assistant will perform administrative processes for people operations, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance maintenance.

Responsibilities
Timely processing of biweekly payroll for the Petroleum and Transportation companies
Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system. Information includes employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
Receive and process court ordered withholdings and other payroll deductions
Maintain accurate records of active job openings and received applications; manages internal and external job postings
Review applications for entry-level and non-exempt positions
Perform administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which include layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence
Assist with the administration of employee benefits, which includes collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status to health, dental, life, disability, and other insurance carriers or insurance brokers
Reconcile and prepare benefits invoices for payment
Assist with planning and supporting company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans
Conduct or assist with record audits and mandatory reports, including I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews
Assist with employee engagement efforts
Process and follow up with workers’ compensation claims and maintain OSHA logs
Maintain knowledge and aid users of our HRIS functionality
Support learning & development initiatives for the company
Assist in Talent Acquisition efforts
Receive & respond to general employee & manager inquiries
Other duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be proficient with HRIS or payroll processing software and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
2 or more years of general human resources and/or payroll experience
Preferred
Associate degree
