Responsibilities

Ensure all safety guidelines are followed and the plant operates in accordance with OSHA standards
Coordinate all production control, operations planning, and sequencing
Oversee the production process and manage production schedules
Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records
Assist in developing the annual departmental budget; manage spending within budget constraints and identify cost-saving opportunities while creating value
Develop, motivate, and manage staff by promoting cooperation, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward company goals and objectives
Lead and monitor all physical inventory activities
Implement innovative programs to enhance employee morale and engagement
Oversee capacity management by ensuring production schedules are achieved; adjust plans based on equipment, material, and staffing availability
Champion the GEMBA process and review production team performance related to safety, quality, scrap, cost, and efficiency; initiate corrective actions as needed
Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant; lead, mentor, and empower production teams to resolve business issues
Collect and analyze data required for performance incentive programs
Create and implement visual shop floor controls, including Kanban signals, replenishment methods, and strategic inventory queues
Execute production plans and performance criteria; track and record KPI performance to support continuous improvement
Monitor and maintain quality standards throughout the production process to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.) to ensure seamless coordination and optimal production output
Monitor scrap systems and implement corrective actions as needed
Train production teams and planners on Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
Apply structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes and implement countermeasures
Continuously improve production performance through Lean Manufacturing concepts, techniques, and processes
May oversee additional plant functions, including Purchasing, Maintenance, Inventory Control, Planning, and Replenishment
Oversee all packaging and labeling requirements
Partner with Production and Warehouse teams to improve line fill, delivery metrics, and customer service levels
Address personnel matters in collaboration with Human Resources, including attendance, time reporting, vacation scheduling, performance evaluations, training, modified duty assignments, and discipline
Foster a collaborative, self-directed work environment for plant personnel
Mentor and coach front-line leaders
Monitor and drive improvements across all plant KPIs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Business-related discipline
5–7 years of progressive experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Production Control, and Manufacturing Operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements (OSHA)
Background in Lean Manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures
Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing training or experience
Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control standards
Working knowledge of inventory control systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with production management software and tools; experience with Sage and X3PI preferred
