Responsibilities

Firmware Development: Design, develop, and maintain low-level software and firmware for embedded processors (ARM, AVR, RISC-V)
Hardware Integration: Ensure new embedded systems function smoothly across tactical programs, integrating sensors, radios, and peripherals with mobile and cloud systems
Edge Optimization: Optimize code for power consumption, memory usage, and processing efficiency on smartphones, tablets, and custom EUDs
Automated Testing: Automate hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and firmware deployment processes within a CI/CD framework
System Reliability: Maintain the underlying embedded architecture to ensure reliability and security in disconnected or contested environments
Driver Development: Write and update device drivers for communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB
Security Implementation: Apply secure coding practices to firmware to protect against hardware-level vulnerabilities and ensure data-at-rest encryption
Debugging: Use logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG/SWD debuggers to troubleshoot complex hardware-software interactions

Required

Minimum of an active SECRET clearance
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
Minimum of 3 - years of experience in embedded software design, development, and hardware-software integration
Previous government technology experience, specifically with tactical hardware or PEO-led programs
Expertise in C and C++ for embedded systems; familiarity with Python for scripting and automation
Experience with FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Embedded Linux (Yocto / Buildroot)
Strong familiarity with microcontrollers, SoCs, and FPGA soft-cores
Experience using GitLab for CI/CD and automated firmware build environments
Strong familiarity with Linux for cross-compilation and network-related troubleshooting
DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+ or equivalent)
Experience working with Agile teams to deliver iterative hardware/software increments

Preferred

Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of Army PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) or electronic warfare systems
Experience with Docker for containerized embedded build environments
Familiarity with Bus protocols (CAN, MIL-STD-1553) and tactical data links
Experience with Android NDK (Native Development Kit) for high-performance mobile integration
