SERVICES SHOP SUPERVISOR I
PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking a SERVICES SHOP SUPERVISOR I for the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT. The role involves recommending new equipment, maintaining trainee records, ensuring proper storage of materials, and enforcing safety regulations in the work area.

Responsibilities
You will recommend new equipment, tools, and the relocation of equipment
You will maintain records of trainees, such as apprentice progress records
You will ascertain that materials and equipment are properly stored and safeguarded
You will enforce safety, fire, and other regulations, and maintain good housekeeping in work areas
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
You must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying

Interprets blueprints accompanying job orders, and/as required, prepares layouts, patterns, and sketches
Estimates and requisitions tools, materials, and equipment needed
Plans division of workload among employees, based of capabilities of assigned and available employees, materials, equipment, on weather conditions, and shift in priority of projects
Assigns work to subordinates either by oral or written instructions
Secures, issues, oversees, and advises on the use of safety equipment
