Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Leave Administrator & Workers Compensation to implement and administer attendance, leave, and workers compensation policies. This role involves resolving employee and retiree inquiries, training staff, and analyzing processes to enhance customer service.
Education
Responsibilities
Implements and administers Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) attendance, leave, and worker^s compensation policies and regulations
Resolves complex employee and retiree questions and issues in these areas
Makes decisions on procedural matters regarding attendance, leave, and worker^s compensation
Trains Transactions and Call Center staff in the details of these programs and the required processes to support excellent customer service
Analyzes and recommends process changes to improve customer service
Assists in the development of relevant communications documents and process to provide employees and retirees key information about attendance, leave, and worker^s compensation
Qualification
Required
Thorough knowledge of MCPS attendance, leave, and worker^s compensation policies and procedures
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws as they relate to attendance, leave, and workers compensation
Must be knowledgeable of the American Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Thorough knowledge of the MCAAP/MCBOA, MCEA and SEIU negotiated agreements as they relate to attendance, leave, and worker^s compensation
Thorough knowledge and understanding of FFCRA and Maryland Safe and Sick Leave
Thorough knowledge of the Lawson HRIS and ability to use the system to administer/track attendance, leave, and workers compensation
Analytic and problem-solving skills
Ability and motivation to provide outstanding customer service
Outstanding ability to handle difficult and/or emotional customers
PC skills: Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to use Oracle Discoverer or similar reporting tool
Ability to use technology to make work more efficient and effective
Commitment to confidentiality of private information
Excellent organizational ability
Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS)
High School or GED diploma required
Preferred
Associates degree in human resources or related field preferred
Two years of progressively more responsible human resources or related experience in payroll, garnishments, workers compensation, leave, or insurance and retirement processing work preferred
Experience working in Montgomery County Public Schools or other public human resources administration or educational institution highly desirable
