Required

Current and active California RN License
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
Extensive knowledge of nursing workflows and documentation gained from 5+ years' work experience as an RN (Combination of clinical and non-clinical RN experience acceptable)
RN with 5+ years of experience or Combination of clinical and non-clinical RN experience
Work experience in academic institutions or large integrated health system experience
Experience working with HIM applications, Epic applications, or other system implementation teams for complex projects or healthcare field related application development
Excellent analytical skills to develop and/or comprehend complex clinical documentation and fiscal information
Ability to absorb information to make timely and sound decisions
Skilled in working in a collaborative environment, and experience with team leadership/direction
Ability to work independently, set priorities, organize work, and meet deadlines
Ability to create and manage time schedules, multiple activities and priorities and maintain productivity
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable and effective in opening channels of communication, listening to others and cultivating a healthy, productive, and ongoing dialogue
Ability to express ideas assertively, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate with all levels within and outside of HIM including application and technology vendors
Demonstrated experience in creating and presenting oral and written material to small and large groups
Ability to develop meeting agendas and facilitate meetings
Able to be creative and a strategic thinker and problem-solver: proven ability to see and contribute to the big picture
Ability to independently conduct research, perform a quantitative and qualitative analysis of diverse information and prepare analysis and reports in a logical format
Ability to exercise independent judgment and personal initiative and accept responsibility for decision and actions
Ability to obtain knowledge and understanding of UCDH policies and procedures
Ability to employ tact, diplomacy and sound judgment while working with highly confidential, secured and financial matters throughout UCDH
Ability to recognize the need for and maintain the security of confidential information, exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information or situations
A strong combination of analytical and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to realize complex goals and objectives through strategic planning and initiatives
Ability to manage and lead diverse groups, peers, vendors, and others in a high matrix environment to meet project schedules
Ability to identify and overcome barriers whenever possible
Ability to fulfill project manager and project analyst roles concurrently
Working knowledge of project management tools. Ability to manage large complex projects from inception to completion
Excellent organizational skills to set priorities, achieve timely progress on multiple and simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, maintain a high level of productivity and coordinate activities of unit members
Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and projects, often with conflicting priorities and multiple constituent demands
Ability to integrate UCDH goals, objectives, commitments, and projections within a service-oriented health care environment
Planning skills to analyze goals and objectives based on current and potential developmental projects; to make accurate short-and long-term projections; to establish resource requirements; and to secure potential funding to meet requirements as needed
Ability to develop strategic direction and parcel objectives into short-term tasks to meet pressing deadlines
Ability to work in a changing environment and handle multiple large complex projects and tasks efficiently
Ability to be focused on accomplishing goals but be flexible and adapt to diverse situations
Ability to use logic and flow diagrams to describe the functional processes of a system that both end users as well as programmers can understand
Knowledge of institutional standards, computer systems, and office automation software
Ability to utilize various software tools such as Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

Preferred

EPIC Certified in 1 or more applications
Master's degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or similar degree
Experience in using EPIC EMR for clinical documentation
Work experience in academic institution or large integrated health system experience
Experience in working with EPIC applications, HIM applications, or other system implementation teams for complex projects and/or application development
