Systems Engineer Supervisor
NEOGOV is part of Team Gilbert, which is seeking a highly motivated professional for the position of Systems Engineer Supervisor. This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining enterprise systems in various environments, leading a team of Systems Engineers, and developing technology strategies that meet current and future needs.

Responsibilities
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Systems Engineers (Levels I, II, and III), providing guidance on technical issues, career development, and performance management
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development planning for direct reports
Manage team workload distribution, on-call rotation scheduling, and daily resource allocation to ensure optimal service delivery
Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and innovation
Provide operational input and insights to support the EOI Manager's development and implementation of long-term infrastructure strategies aligned with enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives
Translate strategic infrastructure objectives into operational plans and technical implementations
Evaluate emerging technologies and provide technical recommendations to the EOI Manager for infrastructure improvements and modernization
Ensure infrastructure solutions support the Town's operations strategy, governance requirements, and stakeholder needs
Collaborate with the EOI Manager and other IT leadership to implement technical standards, policies, and best practices
Provide input for budget planning and resource allocation; participate in vendor selection processes and RFP evaluations for infrastructure projects
Oversee the delivery, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise servers, virtualization platforms (VMware), storage solutions, and cloud services (Azure, AWS)
Implement and maintain cloud-based technologies, software-defined networking (SDN), and software-defined datacenter (SDD) solutions to increase efficiencies and automation
Ensure robust backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery capabilities are maintained, tested regularly, and aligned with business continuity requirements
Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and security posture across all infrastructure domains
Review and approve system patches, updates, and change management activities in accordance with ITIL/ITSM best practices
Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues and critical incidents
Maintain hands-on technical skills through involvement in architecture decisions and complex implementations
Support operational availability and resource allocation for both internal teams and third-party vendors

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or closely related field required. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and/or experience
8-12 years of Information Technology industry experience
5-7 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or related technical roles with focus on enterprise infrastructure operations
2-4 years of supervisory or team lead experience managing technical staff
5+ years of Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy experience
3+ years of experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions
3+ years of experience with industry-leading cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid-cloud architectures
Experience with VMware virtualization platforms, software-defined networking (SDN), and software-defined datacenter (SDD) technologies
Demonstrated experience managing complex infrastructure projects from conception to completion
Experience working with ITIL/ITSM frameworks and best practices
Must be able to pass PD background check
Must participate in on-call rotation and be available for emergency escalations
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support critical infrastructure initiatives
Valid Arizona Driver's License
Preferred
Master's degree in related field preferred
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
