Departmental Technician - Filing, Disclosure & Compliance
NEOGOV is part of the State of Michigan, and they are seeking a Departmental Technician to assist with the processing of filings for individuals running for office and to support election-related operations. The role involves ensuring compliance with election laws, training staff, and managing various administrative tasks related to election filings and reporting.

Responsibilities
Assist and process individuals’ filings to run for office
Assist groups placing questions on the ballot for voter approval
Follow Michigan Election Law and evaluate affidavits and candidate petitions
Support staff with election night reporting
Assist county clerks in the completion of the county canvass
Coordinate with staff on the State canvass
Process general filings, mailings, payments & reports for the Division
Train individuals assisting in these operations, including temporary contract workers and other staff
Update training materials, forms, guides and other instructional materials
Qualification
Required
Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service
Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service OR One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service

Preferred
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 7
Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician E9
