Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC)
These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Other related duties as assigned

Qualification

Certified Medical AssistantBARTBLS certificationMedical Assistant experienceMedical terminology knowledgeDirect patient care experienceEPICCadence experienceCustomer service skillsBilingual (English/Spanish)Communication skills

Required

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
Demonstrated MA experience and proven customer service skills and sensitivity awareness
At least one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in an Ambulatory care setting
Knowledge in medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics
Experience in direct patient care; demonstrated skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height, and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens
Thorough knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, basic lab and infection control procedures and standard items used to stock exam rooms
Proven knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians
General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability
Excellent communication skills

Preferred

Three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience
Family Medicine/Internal Medicine experience
Experience with EPIC and Cadence module
Experience with answering and responding to messages and pending orders
Experience assisting with procedures
Experience working with senior population
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Highly efficient and able to work with multiple providers and tasks
