Assistant Director, Member Benefits
California School Employees Association is seeking an Assistant Director of Member Benefits for their headquarters in San Jose, CA. The role involves coordinating activities of the Member Benefits Department, managing projects, and contributing to strategic planning while ensuring the delivery of services and programs for members.

Responsibilities
Plan and deliver services and programs
Create brochures, guides, and other promotional materials
Participate in negotiations with carriers or brokers for member insurance
Investigate and report on the status of claims, renewals or utilization
Cultivate positive relationships with benefit providers
Oversee purchasing for the CSEA store and ticket inventory
Develop and maintain contacts from convention centers and hotels
Supervise negotiations with hotels, conference facilities, caterers, speakers, and entertainers
Coordinate logistics and staff at events
Supervise project management and registration for events
Collaborate on writing and designing delegate packets, program and registration materials
Supervise retirement workshops and other presentations delivered by staff
Manage staff assignments for committees and workshops
Manage resources, staff and logistics
Participate in strategic planning for programs and events
Develop markets that result in revenue for the Association
Monitor and evaluate services, methods and procedures
Identify opportunities for improvement
Manage change
Negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant or controversial issues
Hire, coordinate staff training
Assign projects and tasks
Develop and provide training for members and staff to recruit members
Manage budgets, resources, production and logistics
Monitor and approve expenses
Review contracts with travel and event coordinators
Provide staff assistance to the Executive Director, Association President, and Board of Directors
Coordinate with other departments and organizations
Prepare and present reports and correspondence
Attend meetings with the Board, Committees and others
Stay current on trends in hospitality, customer service, web applications, advertising and merchandising
Qualification
Required
Four years' relevant experience
Bachelors' degree
Knowledge of: Travel industry, including airline reservations systems and hotel contracts
Knowledge of: Public relations, advertising, merchandising, graphic layout and design and promotion
Knowledge of: Telecommunications, web technologies, public relations, advertising and customer service
Knowledge of: Group insurance programs
Knowledge of: Event planning
Knowledge of: Convention centers and hotels
Knowledge of: Vendor relations
Knowledge of: Strategic planning
Knowledge of: Project management
Knowledge of: Community, grassroots and worksite organizing
Knowledge of: Budgets and variances
Ability to: Create high-impact services, benefits, programs and events for members
Ability to: Think, act strategically
Ability to: Show creativity, initiative and exercise independent judgment
Ability to: Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the work of supervisory, professional and technical staff
