Responsibilities
Perform inpatient and emergency department medical coding in an acute care setting
Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, and federal & payor billing guidelines accurately
Utilize EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications
Research and resolve coding-related issues
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS)
Support coder training and maintain compliance with coding standards
Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
Qualification
Required
CCS Certification (Required)
3+ years of medical coding experience
Strong Inpatient coding background
Hands-on experience with EPIC and 3M
Previous experience working with Clinical Documentation Specialists
Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, encoder tools)
Ability to work independently with minimal training
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Preferred
ED experience preferred
AHIMA credentials preferred: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCP
