Responsibilities
Serve as the primary administrator and operational owner for Microsoft Purview
Establish and manage Purview accounts, collections, security boundaries, and role assignments
Ensure alignment with enterprise security, access control, and compliance requirements
Oversee platform health, usage patterns, and operational readiness as adoption scales
Define and maintain operational standards for metadata onboarding, scanning, and catalog maintenance
Partner with data governance to operationalize glossary, classification, and stewardship models within Purview
Ensure consistent application of enterprise metadata standards across domains
Act as an escalation point for governance-related operational issues within Purview
Oversee configuration and execution of Purview scans across cloud and hybrid data sources
Ensure secure management of credentials, integration runtimes, and scan schedules
Monitor scan results and lineage completeness; drive remediation of recurring issues
Manage the ongoing lifecycle of catalog assets, including updates, deprecations, and retirements
Serve as a senior point of contact for domain teams onboarding to Purview
Provide guidance and oversight to administrators, analysts, or stewards performing catalog curation
Support enterprise transition from Informatica by validating metadata completeness and continuity
Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and usage guidance
Identify operational gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities in Purview usage
Partner with the Purview Architect to provide feedback on integration and platform design based on operational experience
Stay current with Purview feature releases and recommend operational enhancements
Drive maturity of metadata operations and catalog adoption across the enterprise
Qualification
Required
7–10+ years of experience in data platform operations, metadata management, or data governance enablement
Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Purview in an enterprise environment
Strong understanding of data governance concepts including metadata, lineage, stewardship, and classification
Experience operating platforms in regulated environments (e.g., financial services)
Proven ability to operate independently and provide senior-level operational leadership
Preferred
Experience supporting or migrating from Informatica or similar enterprise metadata platforms
Familiarity with Azure data services commonly integrated with Purview (ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Synapse, ADF)
Strong communication skills and experience working across technical and governance stakeholders
