Applications Engineer- Fiber Optic Cable
AFL manufactures industry-leading fiber optic cable and provides engineering services for major telecom customers. The Applications Engineer provides technical support in the Energy market for Fiber Optic Cables, creating documentation and conducting training for customers.

Responsibilities
Provide pre - and post - technical support to sales, customer service representatives, and customers. Including, but not limited to:
Field training
Customer visits
Industry standard participation
Conducts product training both internally for company associates and externally for customers, sales agents, and representatives
Creates documents for new product introductions, installation instructions, applications notes, and product specific guidelines
Interact with manufacturing, sales, and research teams to develop and market new products to support product launch for at least the first six months
Lead technical RFx response efforts
Remain up to date and knowledgeable on the most current competitor product offering and technology
Adhere to and promote the environments, health, and safety policies of AFL
Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
Other assignments as identified
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Engineering (or other related technical discipline), with preference for Mechanical Engineers or Materials Science and Engineering
Experience ranging from entry level up to 3+ years in a manufacturing, industrial, or industry‑specific environment
Strongly proficient using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Highly effective/strong communication skills (Oral and Written)
Knowledge of mechanical tooling design, software macro generation

Project Management Skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve under all circumstances
Ability to work well with limited supervision
Well-developed personal skills, comfortable in a cross-cultural environment
Effective time management and organizational skills
Strong presentation and technical writing skills
Ability to disseminate complex information to all levels of an organization including engineering teams, sales teams, installation teams
Ability to work remotely effectively because of frequent travel
Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
Preferred
Experience or knowledge of fiber optics, utilities, or telecom is a plus
Non-degreed individuals will be considered so long as they have held an engineering defined role within an organization for a minimum of 10 years
