Responsibilities
Operates farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment on level or rolling terrain such as open fields, parks, orchards, lawns, and along roadways
Determines equipment operations for maneuvering over level or rolling terrain that are appropriate to the operating characteristics of the tractor and towed or attached equipment
Operates a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, or dump trucks which typically have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment

Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
Relocation costs or other incentives may be available and considered by the organization

Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required

Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver's license is required by law

Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
The employee may required to provide training to lower grade workers
Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
A current/valid CLASS ‘A' CDL license is required by law to operate combination vehicles over 26,000 lbs with a towed unit that weighs over 10,000 lbs 'gross vehicle weight' for the position
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation /Mobile Equipment Operation Family
You must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Operation of Motor Vehicles, Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order), Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation), Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles), Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle), Reliability and Dependability as a Tractor Operator (Motor Vehicle)
