Responsibilities

Developing, reviewing, and updating engineering publications, criteria, and guidance related to concrete materials for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
Managing, overseeing, and reviewing the specialized engineering work of others, including analyses, designs, and technical products, to ensure national consistency and compliance with established criteria for concrete materials
Leading and collaborating on research and development efforts with industry and centers like the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) to identify needs, advance understanding, and create new design tools and methods for concrete in navigation structures
Providing expert consulting, technical support, and training to USACE districts and other agencies, which includes traveling to project sites to participate in inspections, analysis, and quality assurance oversight

Required

A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
One year of specialized experience which includes providing engineering technical direction to multidisciplinary teams in the design of new lock and dams, repair of existing lock and dams, and evaluating the performance of organizational lock and dam infrastructure
Developing, updating, and enforcing policy, guidance, or other instruction for inland navigation
Must have a Professional Engineer (PE) Certification at the time of application
All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment
A trial or probationary period may be required
Direct deposit of pay is required
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time
This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possession to operate vehicles
