Responsibilities
Installing, configuring, and managing server hardware and software - Microsoft Environment
Regularly monitoring server performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to optimize system efficiency
Diagnosing and resolving server-related issues, including hardware failures, software conflicts, and network connectivity problems
Implementing and maintaining robust security measures on servers to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats
Developing and executing data backup strategies to ensure data integrity and enable rapid recovery in case of emergencies
Assessing future server requirements and proactively planning for necessary hardware upgrades or scaling to accommodate growing demands
Utilizing virtualization platforms and cloud services to manage server environments efficiently
Applying software updates and security patches to servers in a timely manner
Maintaining detailed documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Working closely with network engineers, application developers, and system administrators to ensure smooth integration and support
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Several years of hands-on experience managing server infrastructure in a production environment
A minimum of 5 years of experience in server engineering and architecture, with at least 8 years in a team lead or supervisory capacity
Strong understanding of server operating systems (Windows, Linux), network protocols, hardware components, and virtualization technologies
Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline server management
Excellent analytical skills to diagnose complex technical issues and identify effective solutions
Knowledge of security best practices to protect server environments from cyber threats
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of complex server environments
Deep understanding of local and state government security standards, regulatory compliance, and procurement processes
Strong project management skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and coordinate between technical teams and stakeholders
Preferred
Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level server solutions, virtualization platforms, and cloud integration
