Safeguard Global is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a large, mission-driven higher education/non-profit organization during a key transition period. This hands-on accounting leadership role involves partnering closely with the CFO and FP&A team and overseeing month-end close, GL, AP, and financial controls across a complex, multi-location environment.

Partner closely with the CFO and FP&A team
Ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and audit readiness
Provide hands-on leadership across distributed accounting teams

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
10+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 5 years in progressively responsible leadership roles
Strong technical accounting expertise, including GAAP and regulatory compliance
Proven ability to research, assess, and conclude on complex accounting issues
Experience implementing and managing ERP or accounting systems
Strong judgment, risk assessment, and business-oriented decision-making skills
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and collaborate cross-functionally
Ability to travel up to 20% as needed for meetings, audits, or conferences

Preferred

CPA or Master's in Accounting
Experience within non-profit and/or higher education environments
