Property Data Collector
The Town of Falmouth seeks a detail-oriented, highly motivated professional to join our Assessing team as a full-time Property Data Collector. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the property records that directly impact the Falmouth community and help fund essential municipal services.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of real estate and personal property, including buildings under construction, to ensure that the Town’s property records are current and accurate, in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws
Collect and verify property data in a standardized, objective manner through field measurements, detailed field observations, and occasionally electronic methods
Review and inspect areas of Town to maintain equalized assessments as required by the Commissioner of Revenue, reporting findings to the Director of Assessing
Enter all data into the Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system and perform statistical analyses
Perform other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years of college-level mathematics
Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in data entry, measurement, and customer service in a professional office setting
Any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
Must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license
Must complete required training towards certification in Massachusetts appraisal techniques within two (2) years of hire
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to resolve potential discrepancies tactfully
Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to collaborate effectively with the rest of the Assessing team
Preferred
Working knowledge of building construction design
Knowledge of the real estate market
