Responsibilities
Provide direction and guidance to underwriting counsel and related staff within the region
Review and resolve complex or escalated title underwriting matters requiring advanced legal analysis
Promote consistent underwriting practices and interpretation across multiple jurisdictions
Support professional development through training, mentorship, and ongoing knowledge sharing
Communicate legal, regulatory, and underwriting updates relevant to regional operations
Collaborate with agency-facing and claims partners on agent-related issues and claims analysis
Develop and deliver educational sessions for internal teams and external agents
Assist with regional underwriting workflow, onboarding, and performance feedback processes
Participate in broader initiatives focused on underwriting standards, governance, and operational effectiveness
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Ten or more years of experience in title insurance underwriting counsel roles
Prior experience providing leadership, mentorship, or oversight within underwriting functions
Strong analytical, legal reasoning, and communication skills
Preferred
Leadership within geographically dispersed or remote underwriting teams
Responsibility for regional underwriting processes or operational oversight
Extensive experience with real estate transactions, title curative matters, and regulatory interpretation
