Responsibilities
Overseeing the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of the MLS Education program
Curriculum planning and development
Directing program faculty and staff
Ensuring the overall effectiveness of the program
Participating in budget preparation
Maintaining NAACLS accreditation
Coordinating student learning activities such as lectures, tests, and grades
Upholding hospital and laboratory department policies and procedures
Providing training to employees and students
Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Qualification
Required
Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field
Bachelor's degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related science discipline
ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent national certification/licensure for international applicants
Current Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
Minimum of three years of teaching experience
Knowledge of education methods, administration, NAACLS accreditation procedures, and certification processes
BLS certification within 30 days of employment
Preferred
Completion of a NAACLS approved school of Medical Technology
