Responsibilities

The cardiologist will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with cardiac diseases according to standard, usual, and acceptable methods and techniques
This position will be a part of the VISN 15 Cardiology Hub and Spoke Network. This position may require travel to multiple duty stations within the Cardiology Hub and Spoke Network. The position may also be required to report to different locations within the Cardiology Hub and Spoke Network for team meetings and other clinical responsibilities
Will provide services such as outpatient examinations, consultation services related to cardiology, management of patients with current treatment regiment, and admission status as necessary
Participate in providing care in the tele-cardiology program at the facility
Providing clinical consultation to Harry S Truman VAMC clinical staff. Patient caseload may be inpatient, outpatient, or both
May work with primary care physicians on a consulting basis when a patient has symptoms that suggest a cardiac issue
Interviews, examines, selects diagnostic testing appropriately, and interprets/collates results to coordinate patient care
Shares after hour call responsibilities with section physicians in rotation
Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews
Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Proficiency in spoken and written English
