Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist
The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is seeking an experienced Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist to support its mission of developing and strengthening housing professionals nationwide. The role involves providing policy guidance, delivering engaging training sessions, and collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate and relevant training content.

Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted advisor on federal, state, and local regulations, with an emphasis on HOTMA, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, and the Public Housing program, providing accurate and practical policy interpretation to support NAHRO trainings
Research, analyze, and summarize current guidance, notices, and rule changes to inform curriculum development and updates
Collaborate with NAHRO’s Policy and Legislative Affairs team to ensure training content aligns with current policy and NAHRO policy interpretations
Facilitate engaging, learner-centered training sessions that reflect adult learning best practices and promote application on the job
Deliver both virtual (via Zoom or similar platforms) and in-person training sessions nationwide (approximately two travel engagements per quarter)
Adapt presentation style and content to meet diverse learner needs, ensuring accessibility and high participant satisfaction
Collaborate with PD+C’s Learning and Development staff, faculty, and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance across all NAHRO courses
Observe training to ensure delivery aligns with current regulations and approved NAHRO policy interpretations
Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives that support NAHRO’s broader professional development strategy
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local housing programs and policies
Proven experience delivering engaging adult learning experiences both virtually and in person
Research and interpret regulations
Provide policy guidance to ensure accuracy across NAHRO's training programs
Deliver impactful learning experiences that equip housing practitioners with the tools they need to succeed

Preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local housing programs and policies, particularly HOTMA, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, and the Public Housing program
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Procurement, Portability, Budgeting, or Multi-Family programs
Minimum 7 years of experience in housing and community development operations, policy, or compliance
Minimum 3 years of experience facilitating adult learning experiences (virtual and/or in-person)
Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience analyzing current legislation and regulations and translating complex information in a learner-friendly, accessible way
Proficiency in virtual learning platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint)
Ability to travel regularly to deliver trainings across the country
Ability to work independently and stay up to date on relevant topics
Ability to interact with members and be able to weigh their perspectives with a national perspective
Ability to work well under pressure while meeting strict deadlines
