Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer

Buro Happold is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join their team in New York. In this role, you will lead the design of plumbing and fire protection systems, manage a team, and deliver high-quality solutions across a portfolio of innovative projects.

Responsibilities

Act as the plumbing and fire protection lead on a portfolio of projects
Develop coordinated detailed design drawings, specifications, reports and schedules that meet project requirements and quality standards
Produce detailed engineering calculations, including equipment sizing and hydraulic calculations
Plan and manage Revit documentation of design work
Mentor and assist graduates
Work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary team members
Oversee the workload and quality output of Project Discipline Engineers
Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions
Carry out design reviews prior to the issue of technical documentation
Monitor financial performance of projects
Collaborate and contribute towards the US Building Environments technical standards and development
Communicate directly with clients
Ensure practices, policies, strategy, and services represent the client’s best interests and comply with current legislation and codes

Required

5+ years of plumbing and fire protection engineering experience
Relevant bachelor or master degree
Membership in ASPE or ISPE, with Certified Plumbing Designer and LEED AP accreditation desirable
Proficiency with Revit, BIM360, and Naviswork
Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently
Ability to review and analyze codes and standards
Excellent technical knowledge of plumbing systems; ability to investigate, identify and provide solutions to technical problems
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred

Professional Engineer (P.E.) desirable
