Responsibilities
Automation & Equipment Maintenance:
Design & Programming: Design, program, modify, and optimize existing PLC logic and HMI applications (primarily Allen-Bradley) to meet new process requirements, enhance system safety, and improve production efficiency
Advanced Troubleshooting : Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex PLC, automation, electrical, and electronic malfunctions on production/packaging equipment. Collaborate with production teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions
System Upgrades: Assist with and implement PLC system upgrades, new equipment installations, and major modifications
Electrical Expertise : Read and interpret electrical schematics, utilize a multimeter for fault diagnosis, and safely work within control panels up to 480V
Component Management: Replace and configure various Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including AB Powerflex and Yaskawa models, and manage PanelView/PanelView Plus device applications
Documentation: Maintain precise and thorough records of all maintenance activities, programming changes, calibrations, and system upgrades
Compliance, Safety, and Continuous Improvement:
Safety & Quality: Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements, ensuring food quality and safety standards are maintained
Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on all automated and mechanical systems per manufacturer specifications
Collaboration: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff (managers, operators, and maintenance teams) to foster a continuous improvement culture
Mentorship: Provide basic training and guidance to other team members on PLC functions and initial troubleshooting techniques
Qualification
Required
Three (3) plus years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience is required
Proficiency in using RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, or RSLogix 5 for troubleshooting, and the ability to go online with and download programs to ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500, or PLC5 via Ethernet I/P, DH+, or RS232
Mandatory experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and demonstrated electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair skills
Ability to understand P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) symbols and tag references on line layout drawings
Candidates will be required to pass a Maintenance Skills Assessment
Preferred
Preference for candidates holding a Rockwell Maintainer or equivalent Certificate. If not held, the certification must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment
