Workers' Compensation Safety Manager

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to manage workers' compensation risks, focusing on safety and loss prevention, as well as accident investigations. This role includes responsibilities such as supervising the workers’ compensation department, communicating with clients and medical facilities, and conducting safety training and compliance assessments.

Responsibilities

Supervises the workers’ compensation department with work-related incidents and required documents for claim maintenance. Communicates with the client companies, medical facilities, and insurance carrier regarding incident and medical treatment
Reviews quarterly claim summaries to determine open injury claims should remain open or move to closure process to sustain our favorable loss ratios. Maintains communication with insurance underwriters and adjusters
Enters and maintains appropriate workers’ compensation coverage. Coordinates with insurance underwriter during annual renewal process
Responsible for out-of-state workers’ compensation compliance and submits required documentation to state offices. Maintains workers’ compensation certification institute certification
Conduct underwriting loss control analysis for sales team
Assist new clients with establishing Safety Programs
Review current clients' Safety Programs and assist with updates for compliance
Conduct jobsite safety analysis to identify potential hazards
Prepare reports for management on client safety status
Correspond with clients with regard to results and recommendations arising from client company visits
Investigate serious employee accidents
Periodically review client company safety programs and recommend changes/additions to management
Maintain necessary certifications
Other duties as assigned by management

Required

Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
Four to ten years related experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with the administration or management of workers' compensation claims required
Strong leadership skills
Strong organizational, interviewing, and listening skills
Working knowledge of workers' compensation laws and administration
Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem
Applied Learning - Ability to participate in needed learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience
Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers' needs while following company procedures

Instructor Certification for CPR/Medic First Aid/AED
American Society of Safety Engineers Safety Certification
OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification
Texas Department of Insurance Field Safety Representative
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Sit for long periods of time while entering data, making phone calls, or performing other sedentary duties
Stand for periods of time during meetings and/or other group events
Lift 10-20 lbs. of paper, reports, or other documents

Preferred

Associate in Claim (AIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred
