Transit Supervisor In-Training
NEOGOV is seeking a Transit Supervisor-in-Training to join King County's Metro Transit. This year-long program prepares employees for leadership roles in Bus Operations through hands-on training and classroom instruction, qualifying them for positions such as Service Supervisor or Transit Instructor.

Responsibilities
Perform various duty assignments and complete classroom training as part of the formalized training program for qualification as a first-line supervisor
Become qualified in two of the available assignments: Service Supervisor, Base Operations – Dispatcher/Planner, or Transit Instructor
Complete all related supplementary training classes and examinations necessary for the program
Work independently with an increase in responsibility and tasks during the program
Comply with all applicable federally mandated safety-sensitive requirements
Qualification
Required
Part-Time Transit Operators with at least 5 years of part-time service as a Part-Time Operator in the five years preceding the closing date for applications
Full-Time Transit Operators with at least 2.5 years of full-time service as a Full-Time Operator (FTO) in the five years preceding the closing date for applications
Current Rail Operators with at least 2.5 years of full-time service as a FTO in the five years preceding the closing date for applications
Current Streetcar Operators with at least 2.5 years of full-time service as a FTO in the five years preceding the closing date for applications
Current Operations & Maintenance Streetcar Supervisors with at least 2.5 years of full-time service as an FTO in the five years preceding the closing date for applications
Current Rail/Streetcar Supervisors who were not previously Bus Supervisors
Attention to detail: First Line Supervisors are Metro's eyes and ears in the field. Being able to quickly and accurately record information and maintain records and logs is essential
Communication: First Line Supervisors must be proficient communicators. Communication requirements may include preparing reports, directing and instructing Metro Operators, and communicating both in person and via radio during emergencies
Leadership: First Line Supervisors are often the senior Metro personnel on site. Metro expects them to display confidence, enforce requirements for Operators, and serve as Metro's point of contact for outside agencies
Accountability: First Line Supervisors handle high-impact work at Metro. That work can affect anything from Operator's pay to Metro's ability to provide service. Prospective First Line Supervisors must be ready to take accountability for their mistakes and be open to learning and correction
Decision making: First Line Supervisors will often find themselves in high-stress situations where quick decision making and strong critical thinking skills must be employed. The ability to assess a situation, make decisions, and enact those decisions is a requirement for First Line Supervisors
