Responsibilities

Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to determine the business and technical needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product
Functions as the organization's technical specialist in developing system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and the estimation of time and resources for system design, development, and support
Performs complex and comprehensive analyses and uses systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to determine performance objectives and integration issues. Implements, develops, and documents projects; ascertains needed changes or modifications to production methods, procedures, and/or approaches; and documents systems requirements
Serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations

Position requires a professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution
Selectee must complete required certification level (LEVEL 2) in (Test and Evaluation) within 24 months of assignment
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions
Basic Qualification Requirement: You must meet one of the following qualification requirements by the closing date and provide documentation to support your qualifications: A. Degree: Have a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering from a curriculum in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineer curriculum; or B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
Specialized experience: I have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-11), level, pay band (NH-02), or equivalent
Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment
Knowledge of development engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues
Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles
Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing

Preferred

Advanced degrees are preferred
This position may require travel
