Intern, Technical Undergraduate Summer - Advanced Threat Defeat, Onsite

They are seeking an undergraduate mechanical engineering summer intern to design and test flight hardware, assist with prototyping and testing, and present design ideas to their engineering team.

Responsibilities

Design flight hardware or associated handling gear
Perform traditional and FEA analysis on that hardware
Oversee prototyping, 3D printing, and fit checks on flight hardware and associated handling gear
Assist with testing, including thermal, acceleration, shock, and vibration
Help assemble flight hardware for flight
Participate in design competitions
Present design ideas and analysis to our team of engineers and project leads

Required

Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S

Preferred

Familiarity with CAD design tools such as Solidworks or Creo
Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis and associated tools such as Solidworks Simulation or ANSYS
Academic or hobby experience with basic mechanical hand tools
Participation in academic programs such as FSAE race car development or university rocket launch programs
Familiarity with machine tools or practices
GPA of 3.3/4.0 or higher
