Responsibilities

Independently collect utility samples from all designated sampling points
Perform basic quality tests and document results before shift departure
Monitor and maintain all units within normal operating ranges, including the adjustment of chemical feed rates
Understand and control key process parameters within established control limits
Identify and respond appropriately to out-of-spec conditions
Handle routine operational problems independently through established troubleshooting procedures
Maintain accurate logs and documentation in SAP system
Train and develop backup operators to achieve independent operation capability
Guide trainees through each unit's normal operating ranges and critical parameters
Create and conduct hands-on exercises for identifying and responding to abnormal conditions
Facilitate operator creation of personal reference guides for common issues and solutions
Assess operator readiness through practical demonstrations
Review historical problems and notifications, practicing troubleshooting scenarios with trainees
Coordinate introductions between operators and key equipment vendors during maintenance visits
Advance utility operations program to mirror best practices of mature facilities
Develop operational rhythms that effectively share responsibilities with general operations
Assess program gaps and recommend improvements
Allocate dedicated time weekly to program development initiatives, supported by commercial team
Digitize all Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures into SAP system
Support standard operations activities as workload permits
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with key equipment vendors
Coordinate with vendors during scheduled maintenance visits
Utilize SAP for vendor requests, work orders, and maintenance tracking
Maintain equipment vendor contact list and service history
Ensure all activities comply with PSM requirements and facility safety protocols
Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations
Maintain required safety certifications and training
Report all safety concerns, near-misses, and incidents immediately
Monitor recording instruments, flow meters, panel lights, and other indicators, and listen for warning signals, to verify conformity of process conditions
Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panel boards, control boards, or automatic equipment. Record operating data such as process conditions and instrument readings
Operate powered industrial truck equipment to move materials
Label/ package chemicals as needed

Required

High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred

Minimum of 3 years experience working in utility operations or chemical processing
Experience in PSM-covered facilities strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience training and mentoring other operators
SAP or similar ERP system experience preferred
Boiler Operator License preferred
Technical degree or certification in Process Operations, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred
