Principal Technical Marketing Engineer (Data Security)

Responsibilities
Own and drive the technical marketing strategy for Data Security products, including CASB, DLP, and AI Access Security
Act as the technical voice of the customer, influencing roadmap, architecture, and prioritization of new capabilities
Develop and deliver high-impact outbound technical content such as solution architectures, white papers, reference designs, competitive analyses, and best practices
Lead competitive and market intelligence efforts, identifying gaps, differentiators, and emerging trends in data security and AI governance
Design, build, and maintain advanced demo and lab environments that reflect real-world customer and AI usage scenarios
Serve as a technical lead for product launches, betas, and early-access programs, ensuring customer readiness and success
Present at executive briefings, industry conferences, analyst sessions, webinars, and customer events as a data security thought leader
Mentor and guide senior and junior Technical Marketing Engineers, setting quality and execution standards
Partner closely with Product Managers to define PRDs, review designs, validate use cases, and influence long-term strategy
Enable Sales, SEs, partners, and customers through deep technical training, enablement sessions, and hands-on workshops
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to drive adoption and customer satisfaction
Qualification
Required
12+ years of experience in the cybersecurity industry in technical roles such as Technical Marketing, Product Management, Sales Engineering, or Engineering
BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Deep expertise in Data Security technologies, including: Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (browser, endpoint, network, email and cloud), Sensitive data classification and discovery, AI application access control and GenAI security
Strong understanding of cloud architectures (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proven knowledge of networking and web technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, proxies, firewalls, identity integrations)
Experience with identity and access concepts (SSO, OAuth, SAML, Zero Trust) as they relate to data and AI access
Solid grasp of the evolving threat landscape, including insider risk, data exfiltration, SaaS misconfigurations, and AI-driven risks
Demonstrated ability to conduct and present competitive analysis and position differentiated solutions
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to technical, executive, and non-technical audiences
Hands-on experience building production-grade labs, demos, or proof-of-concept environments
Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., Python), APIs, dashboards, and workflow automation tools
Strong customer advocacy mindset with experience navigating complex, high-stakes customer environments
Proven ability to operate with autonomy, influence without authority, and drive initiatives from concept to execution
Preferred
Experience defining or evangelizing AI Security / GenAI governance strategies, including prompt security, data exposure prevention, and model access controls
Background in Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) or data-centric risk assessment across cloud environments
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2) and how they map to data protection controls
Experience engaging with industry analysts (Gartner, Forrester, IDC) and contributing to analyst reports or briefings
Prior experience as a Sales Engineer or Field CTO supporting large enterprise or regulated customers
Hands-on experience with SIEM, SOAR, XDR, or broader security platform integrations
Contributions to open-source projects, technical blogs, or public technical speaking engagements
Experience working in high-scale SaaS environments with multi-tenant architectures
Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, or relevant cloud/security certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience influencing cross-product or platform-level security strategy beyond a single product area
