Project Engineer II, Power Generation

Responsibilities
Perform basic project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems
Assist in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines in accordance with the established project baseline
Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual requirements
Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans
Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these
Support the preparation, delivery and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Foundational experience in gas‑fired power generation, ideally with exposure to combined cycle, simple cycle, or cogeneration projects. Supports project teams by coordinating across engineering, construction, and commissioning disciplines
Experience working with or supporting procurement/technical coordination for major equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or heat‑recovery steam generators. Exposure to OEMs such as GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Vogt, or Nooter Eriksen is beneficial
Working knowledge of OEM equipment packages and the interfaces between OEM systems and balance‑of‑plant equipment. Assists in reviewing technical documentation, ensuring alignment with EPC engineering processes and design standards
Participation in the proposal or early project development process is a plus, with an emphasis on supporting engineering inputs, gathering data, and helping prepare execution plans
Strong skills in helping develop and maintain project scope documentation, including tracking design requirements, supporting change management, and monitoring adherence to schedules and budgets under the guidance of senior staff
Familiarity with typical project interfaces for gas‑fired power generation projects—such as natural gas supply, utility interconnections, makeup water and wastewater systems, and environmental/air permit requirements. Experience coordinating or supporting work in these areas
Preferred
Familiarity with EPC or lump‑sum project environments is a plus
Five (5) years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry including the performance of functional tasks on projects with a basic understanding of procedures and interfaces
Flexible and adaptable approach, willing to take on new work challenges
Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and task
Customer focused with ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company's needs
Demonstrated strategic thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills

Certification in project management suggested, for example Project Management Professional (PMP)
