Laboratory Analyst, GC ALC-GYL/PCB
Sterling Labs is a DoD, NELAP, ANAB, and AIHA-accredited environmental laboratory dedicated to providing high-integrity analytical data. The GC Analyst is responsible for running and reporting environmental samples, managing daily workflow, ensuring quality procedures, and communicating with the Team lead to meet client expectations.
Environmental Services
Responsibilities
Manage sample workload to meet reporting deadlines
Upload and review results in Sterling Lab’s LIMS
Quantify and qualify results based on the analytical method and SOP
Report accurate and on-time data in ELEMENT 7
Calibrate instrumentation accurately according to SOPs
Build sequence and batch data to maximize instrument run efficiency
Perform daily and ongoing maintenance on instruments, including inlet maintenance, changing columns, source cleaning, etc
Prepare standards and reagents
Make critical decisions about the quality of samples prior to analysis to protect instruments and meet client objectives
Assist other analysts and extractors in other lab areas as workflow requires, under direction of your supervisor
Maintain good housekeeping habits and assist with sample disposal
Communicate to the Team lead the status of the workload as well as any data quality issues
Assist supervisor in determining sources of problems and implementing corrective actions to resolve those issues

Qualification
Required
BS/BA degree in chemistry or related field
Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Access
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Self-directed, goal oriented
Preferred
1-2 years of experience as a GC/HPLC analyst is preferred
Familiarity with Element 7 is preferred
