Responsibilities
Assist in conducting transportation planning studies, including traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, crash analyses, and speed studies
Support Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) portions of Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, coordinating with other disciplines
Participate in traffic data collection programs and analyze collected data
Contribute to iterative roadway design processes alongside roadway and structural engineers
Prepare materials for public outreach meetings and facilitate clear visual communication of technical concepts for public audiences
Perform microsimulation and mesoscopic modeling, integrating findings into final project recommendations
Draft technical memoranda and comprehensive reports
Qualification
Required
1-2 years of experience in transportation engineering or planning
Knowledge of TPTE principles and best practices
Familiarity with TPTE standards, codes, and requirements
Understanding of National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) studies and guidelines
Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro and HCS
Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator
Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
Proficiency with standard business software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to general audiences
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or a related field
Minimum of 1 years of professional experience is preferred
Engineering in Training (EIT) license, successful completion of the FE exam, or ability to obtain EIT within six months of employment
Preferred
A master's degree is considered an asset
Previous internship experience a plus
