Responsibilities

Advise business clients on compliance with key healthcare regulations, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Medicare and Medicaid billing rules, HIPAA and EMTALA
Draft and review physician agreements, including medical director agreements, on-call agreements, and professional services agreements
Prepare and review business associate agreements, guiding clients on HIPAA compliance and navigating state and federal privacy statutes regulations
Offer strategic, practical legal counsel to executive leadership, enhancing decision-making processes
Develop expertise in healthcare law and share insights within the Department of Legal Affairs (DLA) and beyond, bolstering the organization's legal proficiency
Work closely with VP, Senior Corporate Counsel, and Deputy General Counsel, providing seamless guidance on Providence's legal affairs
Prepare, draft, and review critical legal documents, ensuring compliance with statutes, regulations, and policies
Lead efforts in providing timely legal information and educational materials to Providence operations and ministries, adapting to regulatory/legal changes
Provide legal guidance to Providence’s Integrity, Audit, and Compliance Services Department, aiding internal investigations
Stay informed about healthcare issues, continuously enriching your legal knowledge
Efficiently manage outside counsel relationships and oversee services rendered

Required

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, or equivalent
Minimum of 8 years of relevant healthcare legal experience, either in a law firm or in-house experience
Admission to California, Oregon, or Washington State Bar required
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate indirectly with senior leadership and team members
Proven capability to manage assignments with minimal supervision

Preferred

Experience with legislative proposals, as well as proposed and final regulations
