Laboratory Analyst, GC ALC-GYL/PCB
Sterling Labs is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to run and report environmental samples to meet production and quality goals. The analyst will be responsible for planning daily workflow, monitoring quality of procedures, and communicating issues to the Team lead.

Responsibilities
Prep and analyze 8011/Alcohols/Glycols samples including the dilution/extraction process
On call rotating shift for Emergency Response PCBs (1 week at a time, 24 hours on call) with additional compensation
Prep and analyze PCB waste samples with a simple dilution and preparation/extraction
Manage sample workload to meet reporting deadlines
Upload and review results in Sterling Lab’s LIMS
Quantify and qualify results based on the analytical method and SOP
Report accurate and on-time data in ELEMENT 7
Calibrate instrumentation accurately according to SOPs
Build sequence and batch data to maximize instrument run efficiency
Perform daily and ongoing maintenance on instruments, including inlet maintenance, changing columns, source cleaning, etc
Prepare standards and reagents
Make critical decisions about the quality of samples prior to analysis to protect instruments and meet client objectives
Assist other analysts and extractors in other lab areas as workflow requires, under direction of your supervisor
Maintain good housekeeping habits and assist with sample disposal
Communicate to the Team lead the status of the workload as well as any data quality issues
Assist supervisor in determining sources of problems and implementing corrective actions to resolve those issues

Qualification
Required
BS/BA degree in chemistry or related field
Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Access
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Self-directed, goal oriented
1-2 years of experience as a GC/HPLC analyst
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds using correct and safe lifting techniques
Must be able to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods of time
Must be able to wear all PPE required for the position
Preferred
1-2 years of experience as a GC/HPLC analyst
Familiarity with Element 7
