Assistant Director - Summer Camp

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a faith-filled, energetic, and highly organized individual to serve as Assistant Director for Summer Camp. This role involves planning, coordinating, and leading a summer camp program that provides a safe and spiritually enriching experience for children, while collaborating with parish/school leadership, camp staff, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of a fun, faith-based, and age-appropriate summer camp program rooted in Catholic values
Support daily camp operations, including scheduling, activity coordination, and supervision of campers
Help recruit, train, supervise, and support camp staff, aides, and volunteers, modeling positive and respectful leadership
Serve as a point of contact for parents and staff, communicating clearly and professionally as needed
Assist with monitoring camper behavior and ensuring consistent enforcement of safety guidelines and behavior expectations
Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents under the direction of the Camp Director, following established procedures and reporting requirements
Help coordinate camp logistics such as schedules, field trips, supplies, and materials
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-centered environment consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church
Step into leadership responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Camp Director

Required

Practicing Catholic preferred and committed to the values of Catholic education
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Ability to work collaboratively with the Camp Director and support a team-oriented environment
Demonstrated flexibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm in high-energy settings
Must be at least 21 years of age
CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Must complete and maintain compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God's Children training and background screening

Preferred

Prior experience in education, camp programs, childcare, or youth ministry preferred
