Lead Dock Hand

Freedom Boat Club North Texas is seeking a Lead Dock Hand to maintain the excellence of their fleet and lead the dock team at their Lake Lewisville location. This role involves operational supervision, team leadership, and ensuring a premium experience for members while supporting the Club Manager in various tasks.

Responsibilities

Act as the direct lead for dock hands; delegate daily tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure all staff are adhering to safety and service standards
Assist the Club Manager in the recruitment process by screening candidates and conducting initial peer interviews
Provide formal and informal input to the Club Manager regarding staff performance, including recommendations for promotions, disciplinary actions, or terminations
Take the lead onboarding new dock hands, ensuring they are proficient in boat cleaning, member safety, and reservation software
Lead the team in boarding members and their belongings safely, performing comprehensive pre-departure checks, and closing out daily reservations
Ensure the fleet is immaculately clean and 'show-ready' at all times. Oversee cleaning schedules and personally inspect boats for quality control
Track inventory of cleaning supplies and safety gear (life jackets, ropes, water toys). Maintain a tidy, professional office and dock environment
Log fuel usage accurately and ensure fuel payments are processed. Perform daily reservation audits to ensure all boats are accounted for and serviced
Identify and report boat damage immediately. Coordinate with the Club Manager and Boat Manager to document incidents in the fleet management system
Trailer boats between locations or to maintenance facilities using the company truck as needed
Assist with minor boat maintenance (checking/changing oil, filters, and bilge pumps) to keep the fleet in peak condition
Act as a primary point of contact for members on the dock, resolving issues in real-time and conducting club tours for prospective members
Consistently model the 'gold standard' of service to ensure quarterly survey targets are met

Required

1+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory role (marina or hospitality experience preferred)
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid Texas Driver's License
Texas Boater Safety Certificate (must be obtained within the first week of employment)
Proven ability to trailer and launch boats
Basic mechanical aptitude for minor boat maintenance
Must be a self-starter who remains calm under pressure
Possesses a high attention to detail
Communicates effectively with both staff and high-end clientele
Full availability for weekends, holidays, and peak summer dates is required
Ability to work outdoors in Texas summer heat
Stand for long periods
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Frequently board/disembark various boat types
