Responsibilities
Collects specimens for lab testing
Has knowledge of special specimen collection and handling requirements for specific populations, eg. infants, pediatric and geriatric patients
Processes specimens for lab testing according to laboratory procedures
Accessions specimens, retrieves information, enters results
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Performs maintenance
Performs waived testing, EKG testing
Teaches phlebotomy students, employees
Helps resolve problems and answer pre-analytical procedural questions
Serves as a frontline resource to laboratory customers
Assists in the review and updates of laboratory procedure manuals
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of special specimen collection and handling requirements for specific populations, eg. infants, pediatric and geriatric patients
Ability to perform specimen collection and processing for lab testing
Experience with computer data entry and retrieval
Ability to participate in Performance Improvement activities
Ability to perform maintenance and waived testing, EKG testing
Ability to teach phlebotomy students and employees
Ability to help resolve problems and answer pre-analytical procedural questions
Ability to serve as a frontline resource to laboratory customers
Ability to assist in the review and updates of laboratory procedure manuals
Compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and lab testing
