Director of Quality Assurance
Flexcraft is a company focused on quality systems in manufacturing, and they are seeking a Director of Quality Assurance. This role is responsible for developing and implementing quality systems across all manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with corporate expectations and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Leads, develops, and mentors Quality Department personnel across all facilities
Accountable for the effectiveness of quality systems and overall quality performance
Works closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, HR, Sales, and plant level leadership
Serves as the escalation point for significant, repeat, or high-risk quality and safety issues
Establish clear expectations for how quality is managed across all facilities
Align quality priorities with business goals, customer needs, and operational requirements
Provide leadership on complex or high‑risk quality issues
Reinforce a culture where quality is integrated into daily operations and decision‑making
Own the structure, governance, and effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Ensure consistent application of applicable standards and customer requirements (e.g., ISO, SQF, and other certifications, as required)
Develop and/or approve quality policies, core procedures, and significant system changes and responsible for effective implementation across all facilities
Ensure key system elements are defined and functioning effectively, including document control, change management, internal audits, corrective actions, training standards, and management review
Reduce variation in how quality systems are applied from site to site while allowing for practical operational needs
Lead, coach, and hold Quality Managers accountable for performance and leadership expectations
Support development planning, mentoring, and succession planning within the quality organization
Promote consistent leadership behaviors, problem‑solving approaches, and accountability across facilities
Assess organizational needs and recommend improvements to structure, staffing, or capability as the business grows
Review data and trends to identify systemic risks and opportunities for improvement
Sponsor and lead cross‑functional improvement efforts when issues span multiple departments or facilities
Ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are thorough and prevent repeat issues
Drive a shift from reactive issue resolution to prevention and process improvement
Support measurable improvements in defects, scrap, rework, complaints, and audit performance
Oversee internal audit programs to ensure consistency and effectiveness across facilities
Accountable for ensuring plant level Quality Leadership is fully trained and capable of handling customer and regulatory Quality Systems audits
Provide leadership during customer and certification audits when risk or visibility is high
Ensure corrective and preventive actions are clearly owned, prioritized, and verified for effectiveness
Escalate significant, repeat, or high‑risk quality issues to leadership with clear recommendations
Ensure required quality and compliance support programs are defined, owned, and sustained without assuming responsibility for day‑to‑day administration
Act as the senior quality contact for key customers when escalation or leadership involvement is required
Ensure customer quality requirements are clearly translated into internal standards and controls
Support consistent, timely responses to customer quality documentation and audit requests through established processes
Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to align quality commitments with capability
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Safety to integrate quality into all manufacturing activities
Influence process design, changes, and improvements without owning operational execution
Exercise quality authority to:
Stop production of non-conforming processes
Require corrective actions
Escalate unresolved risks to leadership
Provide clear visibility into quality performance, risks, and priorities through regular reviews and reporting
Communicate quality issues and trends in a clear, practical manner that supports decision‑making
Ensure leadership understands where quality systems are strong and where attention is required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading quality leaders or managers
Strong knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement methodologies
Preferred
Master's degree
Multi-facility experience
Plastics manufacturing experience (blow molding or injection molding)
Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and improve QMS registrations (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, SQF)
Extensive experience leading customer, regulatory, and certification audits
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across functions and facilities
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience implementing automated inspection and quality technologies
Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
