InternAshley Furniture Industries is seeking a Maintenance Intern to join their engineering team. The intern will work on designing and developing an Airlaid Non-Woven Fiber Manufacturing line, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical engineering principles and project development.

Responsibilities
Participate as a multidisciplinary engineering team member
Assist engineers and engineering technicians with the design, development, integration, and testing of
Non-woven fiber manufacturing materials and equipment
Assist engineering technicians with the assembly and wiring of hardware installations
Assist with the documentation of engineering data
Participate in field testing
Participate in the QA/QC process of materials, software and hardware
Qualification
Required
Participation as a valuable member of the engineering team
Work directly with the engineering staff
Design, develop, cost justify, test and submit a final proposal for an Airlaid Non-Woven Fiber Manufacturing line
Minimum commitment of 3 months and 45+ hours per week
Perform a variety of tasks related to the project
Learn the real-world application of mechanical engineering principles
CAD design
Creating Excel spreadsheets
Creating Powerpoint documents
Cost & weight calculations
Materials testing
Attending meetings
Work with other design/test groups, suppliers, factory, etc
Involvement with all areas of project development
Machinery design and layout
Building design and layout
Product and raw material testing
Throughput and productivity calculations
Quality and performance testing
Financial analysis
Report to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Assist engineers and engineering technicians with the design, development, integration, and testing of Non-woven fiber manufacturing materials and equipment
Assist engineering technicians with the assembly and wiring of hardware installations
Assist with the documentation of engineering data
Participate in field testing
Participate in the QA/QC process of materials, software and hardware
