Responsibilities
Lead automation initiatives and design large-scale repeatable infrastructure (IaC)
Act as a liaison between developers, security analysts, and project managers to ensure mission success
Formally responsible for mentoring junior engineers and elevating the team's technical capabilities
Oversight of full-lifecycle CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and rollback strategies
Serve as the final point of escalation for diagnosing and resolving complex cloud infrastructure issues
Qualification
Required
Active Top Secret Level Clearance
Bachelor's in Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET-accredited program
10 years of experience with Masters or 14 years with Bachelors
10+ years in cloud engineering, automation, or DevOps
Certification/training in accordance with DoD 8570.1M / 8140 (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP, Network+ CE)
Hands-on experience with GitLab CI, CloudWatch, and either Python or Bash
Advanced AWS Ecosystem: Expert mastery of VPC, IAM, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, and CloudFormation
High proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell and the use of AWS SDKs/CLI for custom tool development
Advanced knowledge of hybrid-cloud networking, including Transit Gateways, VPC peering, and VPN integrations with on-premises systems
Implementation of enterprise monitoring solutions using CloudWatch, Datadog, or Splunk
Expert use of Terraform and Ansible for complex, multi-environment deployments
Deep understanding of FISMA and NIST 800-53
Ability to assess and mitigate technical and operational risks while ensuring strict adherence to federal regulations
Designing secure environments using IAM best practices, encryption at rest/transit, and robust logging/auditing
Preferred
AWS Professional Certifications: DevOps Engineer – Professional or Solutions Architect – Professional
Leadership Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or ITIL
Familiarity with the ELK Stack and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes)
