Research Tech

The Research Tech role involves studying the genetics of a hormone that regulates bone mineralization and performing various molecular and cellular biology experiments.

Responsibilities
Conducts DNA/RNA/protein extractions from tissue/cells to perform various molecular and cellular biology techniques
Performs routine laboratory procedures (e.g., solution prep, equipment monitoring, cleaning etc.) and lab maintenance
Manages data, conducts DNA/RNA analysis/characterization (electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), spectrophotometry), and prepares reports/presentations
Works with mice to monitor and genotype portions of a mouse colony
Monitors inventory levels of needed materials, supplies, and equipment in support of research projects
Prepares supplies for appropriate use in field experiments
Sets up experiment apparatuses according to established protocols
Prepares reports and maintains all relevant documentation
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism
Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
Some related experience
Experience with animal handling and molecular biology
Understanding of laboratory skills and techniques
Basic knowledge in chemistry
Basic math skills
Basic computer/data input skills
Strong organizational skills
