Program Manager, Micro-Nanotechnology

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is Utah’s largest open-access college, serving over 45,000 students. The Program Manager for Micro-Nanotechnology is responsible for managing the Micro-/Nanotechnology program, providing operational oversight, coordinating with industry partners, and supporting student engagement and success.

Responsibilities

Advise the Principal Investigator on program operations, curriculum updates, and student support needs
Coordinate quarterly Microscopy Professional Advisory Committee meetings and implement resulting recommendations
Serve as liaison among industry partners, students, faculty, and administration to support program alignment and compliance
Monitor industry trends and integrate partner feedback into curriculum review and improvement
Conduct outreach and assist students in securing capstone projects, internships, and workshop opportunities
Support grant-related activities, project documentation, and reporting for the PI
Manage internal scheduling, program logistics, and required academic records
Prepare progress reports and support program-level decision-making
Assist students with program expectations, experiential learning participation, and connection to SLCC support services
Contribute to ongoing operational improvements and perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree
Minimum of three (3) years of direct, full-time experience in project management, higher education, or equivalent work in a related setting
Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams, identifying challenges, and recommending solutions
Trade-off 1:1 in experience/education requirement
Knowledge of micro/nanotechnology concepts, curriculum structures, and workforce trends
Familiarity with academic scheduling, registration systems, and course management platforms
Understanding of SLCC academic policies and procedures
Understanding of micro/nanotechnology industry standards, applications, and workforce competencies
Familiarity with laboratory environments, instrumentation, and safety practices
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Skill in coordinating teams, managing logistics, and maintaining organized records
Ability to manage program needs, timelines, and stakeholder expectations
Ability to support students' academic and professional development
Skill in communicating program requirements and connecting students with resources
Ability to develop individualized solutions for student success in capstones, internships, and workshops
Strong data-tracking, reporting, and assessment skills
Proficiency with technology platforms and communication tools
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities

Preferred

Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams, identifying challenges, and recommending solutions
Experience in micro-/nanotechnology, microscopy, engineering, or a related technical field
Experience coordinating industry partnerships or advisory committees
Experience supporting student experiential learning programs
