Responsibilities
Mowing and trimming of parks and other city facilities
Maintaining trash receptacles and providing litter control
Restroom and building and grounds maintenance to include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
Performs routine maintenance on buildings, structures, and grounds
Works cooperatively with and provides assistance to other staff members as assigned
Wears a staff uniform while on duty
Observes all safety precautions and assists others to provide a safe work environment
Attend all trainings and meetings required for staff
Reports any damaged or broken safety or mechanical equipment to the appropriate supervisor
Completes assigned duties of the position and other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Ability to think logically and follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions using several abstract or concrete variables
Ability to follow instructions and directives
Knowledge of commercial lawn-care equipment and proper use procedures
Basic knowledge of general maintenance procedures and practices
Knowledge of general safety practices
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and the public
Ability to tactfully handle a wide array of social situations
Continued education in High School or above
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have and be able to demonstrate knowledge of safe equipment operating practices
Good communication skills
Show initiative, be dependable, show enthusiasm, and have a desire to serve the public
Sitting, Standing, Kneeling, Reaching, Carrying, Climbing, Walking, Finger Dexterity, Talking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Watching, Hearing, and Other Repetitive Motions
Medium work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently
Preferred
Any work in maintenance or repair of facilities or grounds is preferred
