Responsibilities
Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and 5S standards
Maintain a positive, efficient work environment for production operators
Enforce plant policies and union contract requirements fairly and consistently
Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing/work assignments based on demand and material availability
Supervise operator training, onboarding, and skill development
Support orientation and training for new team members
Provide employee coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when required
Review daily production metrics including downtime, setup time, productivity, and housekeeping performance
Document and report productivity, attendance, overtime, and operational concerns
Work closely with departments such as Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, Production Control, and Accounting
Address quality issues immediately and participate in Non-Conformance Process (NCP) reviews
Ensure all workplace safety procedures are followed; investigate and report accidents, injuries, and near misses
Participate in plant committees, project teams, and DOS events as required
Execute overtime and attendance policies as needed
Perform other duties assigned by leadership
Qualification
Required
Ability to work 2nd shift with flexibility for other shifts when needed
Willingness to work daily and weekend overtime based on customer demand
Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and lean tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of production equipment functions
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and quality processes
Strong leadership, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills
Basic troubleshooting ability for minor machine/tooling issues
Professional and ethical approach in managing people, assignments, and discipline
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience OR equivalent manufacturing leadership experience in a lead role
Preferred
MRP system experience preferred
Preferred exposure to robotic welding and CNC machining
Associate's Degree or higher in a technical field preferred
