Recreation Leader II - Camp P-Town Counselor

The City of Pleasanton is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated camp counselors to create unforgettable summer adventures for the community's youth. In this role, you will supervise and lead day camp participants, assist with program set-up and implementation, and ensure a safe and fun environment for all campers.

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead day camp participants, facilitating activities according to prepared camp schedules
Assist with program set-up, implementation, clean-up, and maintenance of camp rosters, check-in/out procedures, and equipment
Work closely with recreation coordinators on program planning, supply acquisition, and ensuring a safe program environment
Interact with patrons, parents/guardians, and the public, providing information, resolving conflicts, and administering first aid as needed
Handle money for programs or activities, operate cash registers or credit card terminals, and attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings
Perform assigned tasks with indirect supervision, including setting up equipment, supplies, and activity areas

Required

Demonstrates an understanding of program objectives, operations, supplies and needs
Demonstrates some experience and/or familiarity with program operations
Possess CPR - First Aid - AED certification
Knowledge of operational rules and protocols of assigned facility
Knowledge of performing proper care/storage of program equipment/supplies
Knowledge of basic program concepts and design
Knowledge of basic customer service practices
Skill to operate cash register and credit card terminal
Skill to safely operate assigned program equipment
Skill to set up program equipment and/or activity area
Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to move and set up assigned program equipment and supplies
Ability to climb, squat, kneel, and sit on floor, as needed to accomplish job duties
Ability to assemble basic equipment, tools and supplies
Ability to operate tools and equipment
Ability to work flexible hours
